What is the Türkiye Bursları scholarship?

Türkiye Bursları, also called the Türkiye Scholarships or Turkey Burslari scholarship, is a government-funded programme run by Türkiye's Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). The programme places international students at Turkish universities and funds associate, Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, research and short-term study for citizens of every country, including Pakistan.

Türkiye Bursları differs from most scholarships because the programme itself chooses the university and department. Applicants list preferences, and the scholarship committee makes the final placement after the interview.

Self-funded options, living costs and the visa route are explained in the study in Turkey from Pakistan page. Medicine applicants should also read the PMDC rules for MBBS in Turkey.

What does Türkiye Bursları cover for Pakistani students?

Türkiye Bursları covers full tuition, a monthly stipend of 6,500 TL for Bachelor's, 9,500 TL for Master's and 13,000 TL for PhD students, university accommodation, health insurance, a one-year Turkish language course and a once-off flight ticket. Merit scholarship winners receive double the normal monthly stipend.

How do I apply for Türkiye Bursları from Pakistan?

Pakistani students apply for Türkiye Bursları online through the TBBS system at turkiyeburslari.gov.tr between 10 January and 20 February. Applicants create an account, enter education details, choose up to twelve university-programme preferences, write a statement of intent, upload documents and submit. The application is free, and no HEC nomination is needed.

  1. 1Create a TBBS account. Register on the Türkiye Scholarships Application System at turkiyeburslari.gov.tr.
  2. 2Fill in personal and education details. Enter Matric, FSc or degree marks exactly as on the documents.
  3. 3Choose up to twelve preferences. Pick university and programme combinations, ranked in order of real interest.
  4. 4Write the statement of intent. Explain goals, programme choice and plans for Pakistan in clear English.
  5. 5Write the research proposal (graduate). Master's and PhD applicants describe the research idea they want to pursue.
  6. 6Upload documents. Add passport, photo, transcripts, certificates and any test or language scores.
  7. 7Submit before 20 February. The system closes on the deadline and late applications are not accepted.

Medicine applicants should also meet PMDC conditions before accepting a place. Those rules are in the MBBS in Turkey for Pakistani students page.

How should Pakistani students write the Türkiye Bursları statement of intent?

A strong Türkiye Bursları statement of intent explains why the student chose the field, why Turkey and the listed programmes fit that goal, what the student has already achieved, and how the degree will help Pakistan or Türkiye–Pakistan ties. Specific examples, clear structure and honest plans work better than general praise of Turkey.

  • Open with a concrete moment that sparked interest in the field.
  • Link the twelve preferences to one clear career direction.
  • Name projects, competitions, volunteering or work experience.
  • Describe a realistic plan for returning to work in Pakistan.
  • Keep the language simple and proofread every sentence.

What happens in the Türkiye Bursları interview?

Shortlisted Pakistani applicants attend a Türkiye Bursları interview, usually between April and June, either online or in person. A panel asks about academic background, programme choices, the statement of intent, future goals and knowledge of Türkiye. The panel scores both academic strength and personal fit for the scholarship.

Common questions include why the applicant chose Turkey, which preference matters most and what the applicant will do after graduating. Candidates should know the listed universities well.

The panel may also ask about Pakistan–Türkiye relations or current affairs. Calm, specific answers usually score better than memorised speeches.

When are the Türkiye Bursları 2027 dates and results?

Türkiye Bursları applications usually open on 10 January and close on 20 February. Document review follows in March and April, interviews run from April to June, and results with university placement arrive in July or August. Scholars then start the Turkish language course in September, before the degree begins.

Pakistani applicants should prepare transcripts, the passport and the statement of intent by December. The exact 2027 dates appear on the official site when the call opens.

How does Türkiye Bursları compare with other scholarships for Pakistanis?

Türkiye Bursları is unusual because applicants need no admission letter, HEC nomination or IELTS. Stipendium Hungaricum offers fixed HEC seats for Pakistan, DAAD focuses on Master's and PhD study in Germany with work experience, and Erasmus Mundus funds joint Master's degrees across Europe. Many students apply to two or more.

Details for the other options are in the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship page, the DAAD scholarship page and the Erasmus Mundus scholarship page. UK options are compared in the UK scholarships for Pakistani students page.

Türkiye Bursları deadlines fall in January and February. That timing lets students apply after the Stipendium Hungaricum round and before most DAAD calls.

Which mistakes cost Pakistani students the Türkiye Bursları scholarship?

The mistakes that most often cost Pakistani students the Türkiye Bursları scholarship are submitting TBBS at the last minute, copying a generic statement of intent, choosing random preferences, applying for medicine below 90% marks, ignoring age limits and paying agents for a free application.

  • Waiting until the last week of February to submit TBBS.
  • Copying a generic statement of intent from the internet.
  • Choosing twelve random preferences instead of a coherent field.
  • Applying for medicine with less than 90% marks.
  • Ignoring the age limit for the chosen level.
  • Paying an agent to submit a free online application.

A free Türkiye Bursları profile check with Hammad Study Abroad reviews your marks, preferences and statement before you submit. Students planning Europe as a backup can start with the study in Europe from Pakistan page.

Türkiye Bursları for Pakistani students, frequently asked questions

Is Türkiye Bursları fully funded?

Yes. Türkiye Bursları covers tuition, a monthly stipend, university accommodation, health insurance, a one-year Turkish language course and a once-off return flight ticket. Students pay only personal costs beyond the stipend, such as visa fees, phone bills and some daily expenses.

What is the Türkiye Bursları monthly stipend?

The official Türkiye Scholarships site lists a monthly stipend of 6,500 TL for Bachelor's students, 9,500 TL for Master's students and 13,000 TL for PhD students. Merit scholarship winners receive a doubled stipend. These amounts are revised over time, so check the official page each year.

When does Türkiye Bursları 2027 open for Pakistani students?

Türkiye Bursları usually opens on 10 January and closes on 20 February each year through the online TBBS system. The 2027 round is expected to follow the same window. Pakistani applicants should still confirm the exact dates on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr when the call opens.

Is IELTS required for Türkiye Bursları?

No. Türkiye Bursları does not require IELTS for the application. Scholars study a one-year Turkish course first, and English-taught programmes may later ask for an English score. A valid IELTS or TOEFL score can still strengthen the application for English-taught programmes.

What CGPA or marks are needed for Türkiye Bursları?

Applicants need at least 70% for Bachelor's and associate programmes, 75% for Master's and PhD programmes, and 90% for health sciences such as medicine and dentistry. These are minimums only. Successful Pakistani candidates usually have much stronger marks plus activities and a clear study plan.

Can I apply for Türkiye Bursları without an admission letter?

Yes. Türkiye Bursları places scholars at universities itself, so applicants choose up to twelve university-programme preferences in TBBS and do not need an admission letter. Some graduate applicants add an acceptance letter where they have one, which can help placement.

Is Türkiye Bursları easier than Stipendium Hungaricum?

Neither scholarship is easy. Stipendium Hungaricum offers fixed HEC-nominated seats for Pakistan, while Türkiye Bursları is a global competition with an interview stage. Türkiye Bursları needs no HEC nomination and has one simple online application, so many Pakistani students apply for both.
